Twenty Random Facts About Me

  1. None of my friends know I’ve started a blog. I’ll tell them one day when I’ve either got some followers or I’m really proud of it and am posting regularly.
  2. I’m a night owl. I hate mornings and have to stick to a regular sleeping routine to be able to get up for work or uni on time.
  3. I spend so much time on the internet that my friends, who I lived with at the time and spent lots of time with, have hypothesised I have more hours in my day than they do.
  4. I have expensive taste. My bank balance is always lower than I wish it was.
  5. I go out a lot. Like three times a week. I don’t always drink to excess but I’ll go out and have a couple of drinks at the pub or just a raspberry lemonade or two. But I go out to almost every Saturday with my friends after drinks at someone’s house.
  6. I’m a picky eater. I hate fruit and vegetables and I don’t like to try new foods. I’ve also been known to hate foods I previously liked, like kumara.
  7. I’m really sarcastic. My dad has always been sarcastic and so I guess I picked it up off him.
  8. I’m accident prone. I’ve injured every part of my body. I’m on pretty close terms with my physio, they know me well there. And if something can go wrong it will. And not just in usual ways. One time I rolled my ankle and managed to get inflammation under my ankle bone, which took months to get rid of, and my ankle is still a little puffy. I’ve had a stress fracture in my pelvis, put my spine out of place by stretching out my arms, torn both calf muscles on different occasions, and bruised the water under both knees - which I didn’t even know you could do.
  9. I’ve never really had a childhood pet. My brother is allergic to both cats and dogs, so all we had was fish, which Mum usually overfed and they died, or they’d be evil and kill each other.
  10. Most of my close friends from home are guys. I don’t know whether it’s a small town thing, but most of my friends from home that are girls have generally become really cliquey and stopped coming out to hang out with my other friends since we left high school. At uni though, almost all of my friends are girls, so it’s completely different when I’m there.
  11. I’m not big on exercise, partly because of my accident prone-ness but partly because I’m lazy. I have to get myself into a habit of going four times a week and get myself addicted.
  12. I have a bad short term memory. I will constantly have to ask people to say something over, and if I lose my train of thought, I’ll forget what I was talking about.
  13. On the other hand, my long term memory is impeccable. I’ll remember something my friend said to me three months previously. So if they lie, I know, or if they say they want something for their birthday, I’ll remember.
  14. I hate scary movies. I can only watch them during the day. But I love crime shows like Criminal Minds, Castle and NCIS. I think it’s because the murderer gets caught in the end.
  15. I suck at drawing. I can do things like flowers or building exteriors, but animals, people, cars, I cannot.
  16. I’m a pretty good sewer. I once won a sewing machine for first prize in a design and quality of sewing competition that I entered my ball dress in.
  17. I get massively awkward if someone is having an argument or is getting told off in front of me. I just can’t handle it.
  18. When I’m tired, I ramble. I’ll keep talking and no one will care about what I’m talking about and I know that, I just cannot shut up.
  19. I get annoyed and feel really bad if one of my friends is having a crap day or week if there isn’t something I can do to fix it, even if it isn’t my fault at all.
  20. I’m quite messy on a day to day basis. I don’t clean up after myself, but once every few days, I’ll do a massive tidy and get everything clean. Then as soon as I feel lazy, I’ll just put everything in a pile on the floor again.

So there you go. Now you know me a lot better. If anyone reading this does one of their own, leave a link in the comments and I’ll check it and your blog out.

Clinique Chubby Stick in Chunky Cherry

This chubby stick is really pigmented. I like it because the colour looks like it was put there intentionally and isn’t the remnants of an ice-block. But it does mean that if you get a little vigorous with rubbing your lips together, the outside of your lips gets a little stained. The colour is definately buildable and I’ve tried it a few ways.

They are easy to apply. You’d think since it starts with a tapered end, you’d need to sharpen it, but the bluntness that has started to show hasn’t bothered me yet. I could see how once it gets really blunt, it’s going to need some though, since it rolls out more. It goes on smooth and feels moisturising. It lasts pretty long as well. Not definately as glossy as when it began, but there’s a small amount of lip stain. It’s removable though.

I only bought one colour, but I would like to have more of them. The NZ$40 price tag isn’t so favourable though. It’s the same price as a MAC lipstick.

Since the release of the Chubby Stick, Clinique has released Chubby Stick Intense, a line of more pigmented lip balms, and Chubby Stick for Eyes, a line of eyeshadow tints with a blunter tip, both of which I want to try out when they come to New Zealand. Peruse the entire range here

The Immaculate Eggception Bath Ballistic Review

I love to have a bath any night I really need a good sleep. It takes it out of me. I get really over-productive when I’m tired so it calms me down to the point where I can get a couple things done and then go sleep.

Tonight was one of those nights, so I chose my Immaculate Eggception Bath Ballistic from Lush to put me in the mood. I know this came out Easter last year and was limited edition, but considering they’ll probably release something similiar this year, I thought I’d give you my ideas on it anyway.

It’s a very colourful bath bomb, it made my bath so bright, which is always a plus in my book. It was also beautifully scented to the point where it wasn’t overwhelming, but still left my skin with a mild scent. The scent is relaxing, but doesn’t necessarily make me think of Easter. The egg shape is fun though and makes it a little more seasonal.

If they do another Immaculate Eggception Bath Ballistic this year, check it out. If you have any Lush products you’d like to recommend me, leave a comment below.

Night Time Skincare

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions 3 Step System
I use this in the morning too. It’s essentially a cleanser, toner/exfoliater and a moisturiser, but it’s all about getting the bacteria and oils off your skin. It needs to be done morning and night to keep all bacteria at bay. I apply the cleanser with my fingers, and rinse off with a face cloth. I apply the toner/exfoliater with the cotton pads you see in the picture, and apply the moisturiser with my fingers.

Elizabeth Arden Good Night’ Sleep Restoring Cream
I use this every second or third night instead of the other moisturiser, when my skin’s feeling dry or if I feel like a bit of nourishment. I just dab this on my face and throat and rub in with my hands

Trilogy Eye Contour Cream
This is my eye cream of choice. It’s moisturising, without leaving an oily residue.

2013 New Year's Resolutions

Get down to my goal weight
I have both my 21st birthday and my graduation from university at the end of this year. That’ll involve quite the amount of photos and i want to be able to look at them forever without thinking I should have lot some weight.

Save for a car
When I finish uni, I won’t be coming home for the holidays and I probably won’t be living within walking distance of everything I need, so I’m going to need a vehicle.

Go to as many events as I can, and think constructively about them
I’m studying events, so I need as much outsider perspective as possible.

Blog regularly
I have the best intensions but it doesn’t always happen. I also need to actually take photos of my outfits

Put my best foot forward
Often I don’t care about my appearance, unless I’m off somewhere in particular, but I want to put more effort in and show I care more. This goes hand in hand with being more smily and stuff
